Abstract
The article examines the problems of informative translation, in particular, translating philosophical texts. The relevance of this research lies in the fact that philosophical texts are used not only by philosophers, but also by scientists of various specializations. Scientists are in need of the philosophy of science, because this philosophy sets the logical foundation for research carried out in any science. The purpose of our research is to construct a model of translation in general, which, in particular, should be applicable to the translation of a philosophical text. This model is to be applied to the translations of S.A. Kripke's work “Wittgenstein on rules and private language.” The methods of subject-object identity, statistical analysis, analytical reading, translation analysis, historical analysis, lexicographic analysis, contextual analysis, syntactic analysis and semantic paraphrasing are used as research methods in this work. While comparing the original and translated texts the detailed analysis of translation errors is carried out. The key conclusions are as follows: the developed translation model is applicable to translation practice and can explain translator's decisions; however, further elaboration of methods for analyzing the holistic meaning in comparison of its representation in the original and translated text is required.
