Tax register of Sivas and Tokat dated 1455 have been used as the main reference in this article. The study consists of three parts. The first part addresses at some problems posed due to the use of the Ottoman tax registers as a historical reference. Certain aspects of the economical and social structures of Tokat and Sivas have been comparatively discussed in the second and third parts, based on the professions performed in the mid 15th century in these two cities
