Abstract
The article is devoted to the theoretical justification of engineering approaches to strengthening internal combustion engine components. The historical development and classification of strengthening methods are considered, and their impact on the strength, wear resistance, and thermal stability of parts is analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the technological, economic, and environmental aspects of implementing modern solutions. Directions for further research aimed at increasing the service life and reliability of power units are proposed.
