Abstract

Folklore texts, being products of folk consciousness, undergo significant transformations, conditioned by socio-historical factors of community development and related cognitive changes within the culture. the transformation of folklore texts is carried out in the direction from the transmission of sacred knowledge and ontological explanation of existence to entertainment. the mechanisms of this transformation are examined through the main philosophical components of the folklore text - ontological, axiological, epistemological and teleological, placed in different sociocultural contexts. the new interdisciplinary approach allows us to trace the historical development of folklore texts from ancient myths to modern adaptations, as well as to outline the cognitive shifts associated with changes in the philosophical paradigm. the transformation of the philosophical paradigm of the folklore text is illustrated by the example of such famous stories as “cinderella” and “Beowulf”.
