Abstract
This paper deals with a problem of efficiency of energy conversion of converters. This problem is explained on ex-ample of photovoltaic output energy utilization. The novel concept of single phase buck-boost converter (SPBBC) is presented. It is shown that the efficiency of energy conversion of proposed SPBBC is not good. The new concept of multiphase buck-boost converter (MPBBC) was designed, too. This new concept allows effective utilization of energy from photovoltaic solar cell in comparison with SPBBC. The effective utilization of energy is ensured by adding five parallel legs to the proposed SPBBC. Appropriate algorithm of switches control allows taking the photovoltaic output energy one of these six parallel legs in every moment. The simulation and laboratory models have been built and the simulation results obtained to verify the theoretical properties of SPBBC and MPBBC.
