Abstract

Aim. To learn the pathomorphological features of the small intestine in the anastomosis area after its resection depending on the perfusion changes of the mesentery. Materials and Methods. The experiment was performed on sexually mature male rabbits in the operating conditions of the vivarium. All the animals were divided into two groups: ? - 30 rabbits that underwent resection of the small intestine by the generally accepted method; ?? - 30 animals that underwent resection of the small intestine by the Arcade method. On the 3rd, 7th and 14th day the animals were sacrificed.. A comparative histological study of the anastomosis area of the animals of both groups was conducted. Results and Discussion. On the 3ird day of the study animals in both groups presented with unevenly expressed signs of mucosal damage and signs of inflammation - edema, and leukocyte infiltration of the submucosal layer. In animals with the Arcade way of resection of the small intestine, the microcirculation status was evaluated as the most effective. On the 7th day of the study the signs of mucosa damage were absent in both groups. In both groups, areas of granulation tissue with loose extracellular matrix, thin-walled vessels and irregularly pronounced leukocyte infiltration were identified. In the II group those areas were more significant, and a somewhat larger number of thin-walled vessels and mature vessels was defined. On the 14th day of the study signs of damage and inflammation were not detected or were minimal. In the submucosal layer and partially at the level of the muscle layer, layers of fibrous connective tissue, more pronounced in the II group, were identified. Conclusions. Resection of the small intestine by the Arcade method reduces symptoms of damage and inflammation of
