Abstract
Specific features of the city image and its individual functional areas as a phenomenon of urban culture, arising in the minds of inhabitants at the process of the interaction with the architectural environment are analyzed. In addition to this, factors affecting the images of ?living space? formation and interpretation of symbolic and dominant objects are described by the example of Dnepropetrovsk. Recommendations regarding reconstruction of urban and architectural environment are proposed.
