Intertextuality in media: research status of the category

The paper presents an analysis of the scientific potential of category of "intertextuality" in projection on medialinguistics. The place of the category in the humanities, its status and features in medialinguistics are substantiated in the article. The author structures definitive characteristics of "intertextuality" in the media, the ability of the category to identify the research potential in the analysis of verbalized mediacommunication in different levels ? from media functional units to text structures. A distinction of category "intertextuality" as a scientific abstraction and its verbalized representation in mediatexts is also made in the investigation. Attention is focused on the dominant characteristics of intertextuality, such as diffuseness, relevance variety of communicative situations and functional genres in the media and others. The author makes a generalization of idea about intertextuality impact on active processes of modern languages' evolution.
