Abstract
Image compression is an important technique in digital image processing and image security is an important while transferring. This paper's main purpose is to research how to compress the image and provide security to an image by using bit shifting (IMCBS). Based on analyzing traditional bit operation of individual pixels image, this paper proposed an IMCBS the technique. First, consider the 8bit image from different areas; apply the masking technique by using bit shifting on each pixel. Second, apply compression technique. In first step image is going to be masked so that it is difficulty of an unauthorized individual to break the masked image. In second step, masked image is compressed by using any spatial domain compression technique, it reduce the size of an image. This IMCBS technique is a lossy compression technique and suitable for practical use to protect the security of digital image information over the Internet and also reduces the size of an image.
