Abstract
During the investigation of adrenal glands of 20 mature breedless male albino rats using the complex of morphological methods of investigation the state of the hemomicrocirculatory flow after the effect of general deep hypothermia was studied. The contraction of arteries and dilatation of veins was found in the adrenal capsule and parenchyma. At the ultrastructural level the swelling of the endotheliocytes of the arterioles resulting in their protrusion into the lumen was observed. The nuclei of these cells were elongated, with condensed chromatin located under the invaginated karyolema. The tubules and cisterns of the granular endoplasmic reticulum widened and formed vacuoles. A large amount of ribosomes was observed on their outer surface. The components of the Golgi complex became wider. The mitochondria increased in size, their matrix was enlightened containing indistinct cristae. The cytoplasm contained a lot of vacuoles. The luminal surface of the cell membrane of endotheliocytes was fragmented in some areas. The basement membrane thickened and together with the inner elastic membrane formed irregular folds. Its folds were considerably deeper than those of the control group. The smooth myocytes of the middle layer of the blood vessel wall and their organelles had poorly defined boundaries due to the swelling. All these changes in the hemomicrocirculatory channel led to functional tension of the parenchyma cells of the adrenal glands and corresponded to the period of the reactive-swelling changes.
