Abstract
The assassination of Archduke Franz ? Ferdinand and the Duchess of Hohenberg, in Sarajevo, on June the 28th 1914, was cited as the primary cause of the First World War. The analysis of period documents gives us direct access to the atmosphere and the immediate repercussions of the incident. Such a document is the report of the Romanian Minister to Vienna, Edgar Mavrocordat, who reports the events in the empire after the assassination, and attaches the Official Report on the assassination published in the “Frendenblatt” newspaper.
