LIFE SATISFACTION DURING ADOLESCENCE: AN EXAMINING CONTEXT OF SCHOOL TYPES

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine life satisfaction levels of adolescents attending lower secondary schools with respect to school types. For this purpose data was collected from 633 adolescents attending three lower secondary shools and three Regional Boarding Lower Secondary Schools (RBLSS) at a city of Eastern Anatolia Region in Turkey. The sample consist of 267 female and 362 male adolescents. Research data was obtained via Multidimensional Student Life Satisfaction Scale. In analyzing data t-test was used for dual comparisions and ANOVA test is used for mulitple comparisions. In this reserach was found that life satisfaction level of females were higher than males. Also eighth grade adolescents’ school satisfaction levels were lower than seventh and sixth grade adolescents. Comparisions respect to the school types showed that level of satisfaction with self in lower secondary school students’ lower than RBLSSs’ students. Although level of satisfaction with living environment in RBLLSs’students higher than lower secondary school students. Findings of study were discussed in the light of related literature.
