Abstract
Energy; usage type, quantity, composition, the structure and nature of it is one of the basic criteria of economic and social development. Energy deficit defined as a case where the existing energy supply does not meet the country's demand, is a very important and primary problem that have to be solved in the process of growth and development. For national economies, reaching to a stable and sustainable economic growth level primarily depends on the accurate determination of the energy resources and utilization of such in the right manner. However, despite the fact that the distribution of the energy sources across the globe is unbalanced in addition to the fact that the energy sources are limited, the total energy demand increases by each passing day. Therefore, the energy dependency of the nations, which have insufficient energy resources to meet the domestic energy demand, rises in a parallel way. Nations failure to increase their energy production against the increasing energy demand brings the problem of energy deficiency. The study evaluated within this context, aims to analyze the basic determinants of the energy deficiency, which is regarded as one of the most significant restrictions at the front the sustainable growth, both in terms of supply and demand.
