Abstract
The examination of 25 asthmatics with normal body mass (13 men and 12 women) and 27 asthmatics with different degrees of obesity (17 men and 10 women) hospitalized due to bronchial asthma exacerbation was carried out. Obesity does not influence upon form and severity of bronchial asthma independently of its degree and sex we found. More denominated decreasing of volumetric lung function parameters is noted in patients with obesity. Besides volumetric and speed lung function parameters to a lesser extent are decrease with decreasing index circumference of waist/circumference of thighs. The treatment of bronchial asthma exacerbation led to an improvement in lung function parameters of all groups of patients, but significantly more often in case with normal body mass.
