Abstract

Nitric oxide (NO) ? a simple radical, long considered harmful gas. Useful properties of NO have been actively studied in the late 80 of the last century. NO is produced by oxidation the amino acid L-arginine to L-citrulline formation under the influence of the enzyme NO-synthase. Exhaled nitric oxide is determined by using gas analyzers. In the lungs there are different types of cells capable of producing nitrous oxide by one or more NO-synthases. Normally, NO is involved in the regulation of breathing, maintaining the immune status, cardiovascular homeostasis, blink bronchial cilia, cellular apoptosis. Synthesis gas and its after effect depends on cell producers, state of the cells, organ and whole organism.
