On October 26, 2010 we celebrated 150 years since the inauguration of the University of Iasi. This became the first modern higher education institution and a symbol of Romania's national identity. I recently discovered in the Special Collections Fund at the Central University Library "Mihai Eminescu" in Iasi, a unique document that refers to the University Jubilee celebration of its 50th anniversary. It is the speech on this occasion given by the Romanian law professor S. G. Longinescu of the Faculty of Law from the University of Bucharest. The Faculty of Law and the "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" Iasi on the whole ar on the podium of academic excellence.
