Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examined preservice science teachers’ self efficacy beliefs and attitudes towards profession and investigate the relationships between preservice science teachers’ self efficacy beliefs and attitudes towards profession. The sample of the study consisted of 95 preservice science teachers at Fırat University, Faculty of Education. In order to collect data Teacher Self-Efficacy Scale and the Teaching Profession Attitude Scale was used. In analyzing the data, descriptive statistics, correlation and Mann-Whitney U test statistics were used. While research results was found that preservice science teachers’ self efficacy beliefs significant differences with regard to gender to determine sub scale student participation and teaching strategies differentiation significantly, verified that there was no significant difference in attitudes towards classroom management and teaching Professional. In addition to results displayed that positive correlation was found between preservice science teachers’ self efficacy beliefs and their attitudes towards teaching profession.
