Abstract
A crane hook is a device for grabbing and lifting loads by means of a device such as a hoist or crane. A lifting hook is usually equipped with a safety latch to prevent the disengagement of the lifting wire rope sling, chain or rope to which the load is attached. An attempt is made in this paper to study the analysis of crane hook and our modified crane hook, reference crane hook dimensions, its load capacity and its application in the companys official website of MAZZELLA LIFTING TECHNOLOGIES.I decided to change the cross-section of the crane hook which is capable of the lifting the 5 tonne load without fracture by use of modelled out in CREO PARAMETRIC 1.0 software and analyzed in CREO SIMULATE. After analyzed the cross-section of crane hook, we got best result of modified cross-section compared to reference product in different parameters such as weight, stress, and displacement. We got minimum weight 10.8kg which is approximately 0.4 kg lower than the reference product, and minimum stress of 176.0Mpa and displacement of 0.38mm which are lower than the reference product.
