Abstract
The problems of human development are dealt with. It is shown that any transformations of society always affect the lives and activities of people, entail social consequences. The dominant trend of social development in the late twentieth century is defined as a global demographic problem such as the aging population, which raises a number of other problems - declining living standards, increasing the burden on the working population, increasing demand for health and social services, as well as their significant price increase. Additional sources of financing the social problems related to the development of private pension provision, as well as reforming the health care system are identified.
