Abstract

Aim: to evaluate early results of combined radiotherapy with the use of different single doses (8,5Gy and 9,5Gy) of highdose brachytherapy for radical treatment of prostate cancer. 87 patients with prostate cancer received radiation therapy (brachytherapy with 192Ir and external beam radiotherapy with60Co). Brachytherapy (two implants and two fractions) 9,5Gy compared to 8,5Gy increased the frequency of normalization (<2 ng/ml) PSA after 3 and 6 months. The frequency of radiation reactions 1-2 Grades increased with a single dose of 9,5Gy.
