Abstract
In this article, the opposing social movements which have been seen in the world in recent years are discussed comparatively in the context of Gezi resistance and predictions are made on the potential of the social movements creating a new revolutionary wave in the near future. The fi rst remarkable characteristics of the opposing social movements that have been seen in the Western world in the last years is its spontaneous character, its short-term fl ashing and not leading to a new life style and permanent position acquisitions, power structures. In these movements which show an anarchistic character another element that prevents the emergence of the revolutionary potential, collective consciousness and the integrative solidarity spirit is its extreme segmental/partitive character. The vision of the social opposition is restricted with the particular and local demands and its energy is limited with these demands. The new social movements which can be understood as the concept “minor politics”, aims the rejection of all the meta narratives, central thought systems, great strategies, power centered thought forms and their activity style are mostly direct democratic. These movements don’t form hierarchic, symmetric, programmatic, organized (with parties-syndicates) and disciplinary structures. Although the solidarist morality and the collective activity of the movement emerged with the Gezi resistance may not be possible to transform into a conscious perception and a political leadership in a short term, it is obvious that this will create an important political experience in terms of the formation of the new revolutionary wave that could rise worldwide.
