Consent to the treatment in a clinical setting for substance addictions: the old problem and the new approach

Abstract
The article discusses the problem of substance-addicted patients' consent to treatment. The data in literature concerning the consent to treatment in clinical mental and addiction settings are reviewed; the most significant factors influencing the compliance (clinical, non-clinical, psychological factors, factor of the inner pattern of the disease, factors of therapy's side-effects). The analysis of the findings presented in national and foreign literature has revealed the need for further research into factors, relevant for the formation of the consent to treatment at substance-dependent patients. The article proves the necessity of the development of the compliance therapy, intervention, designed to improve the motivation for treatment, upholding of the treatment guidelines at the patients with addiction diseases.
