Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the cases, reasons and implications of university students? task areas in the social responsibility. The stud y is conducted using a case study as a qualitative research method. Data was collected through interviews that were conducted with 13 university students who have previously taken part in at least one social responsibility project. The interviews were anal yzed via descriptive analysis method. According to the findings of these analyses, the students generally participated in social responsibility projects regarding education, environment, and health such as, book donations, planting, environmental conscious ness, holding briefings, first - aid and drug abuse courses, and donations to urban and rural schools. Findings revealed that the students met these projects via friends or student clubs. Th e students participated in these social responsibility projects beca use of the personal and social reasons such as, social awareness, self - development, conscience, experience, helping others, creating change, and citizenship consciousness. Taking part in social responsibility projects have led students to improve both pers onally and socially. Additionally, results exhibit that social responsibility was effective in the acquisition of skills such as communication, empathy, problem solving, leadership, entrepreneurship and responsibility. As a result, recommendations are pres ented to make students? participation more often in social responsibility activities. Key words: Social responsibility, university, student
