Abstract
Standards have an important contribution on reaching qualified education. If organizations carry out their works with standards and constitute development plans according to these standards, this will add scientific background to define the success and improvement. When analyzed educational systems of succes sful countries, standards have been seen. There are Science and Arts Centers and these centers aim to serve qualified and advanced level education for gifted and talented individuals. Defining standards have vital importance for this aim. In this research, it is aimed to investigate the opinions about defining standards in Science and Arts Centers which gifted and talented students attend to have education. In 2012 - 2013 academic years, written interview form was sent to 3 Science and Arts Centers? principal s, 3 teachers, 3 parents who send their children to these centers, and 3 academics to ask opinions. While constituting open - ended questions in the written interview form, related literature was reviewed and the form was sent to an academic to increase cont ent reliability. After making needed corrections, the interview form was finalised. The data collected by this form was analyzed by content analiysis method, and generated themes and sub - themes. These theme s were compared to an academic?s analysis . The fin dings show that standards will have contributions for directing students correctly, providing quality and identicalness, strenghtening the structure and operation, providing adaptation and removing the problems.Key Words: Science and Arts Centers, defining standards, opinions
