ŞEYH BEDREDDİN’İN MENKIBEVÎ HAYATINA DAİR BİLİNMEYEN BİR ESER: MENÂKIB-I ŞEYH BEDREDDİN SULTAN

There is plenty of information about Sheikh Bedreddin, who is remembered by his rebellion and the ideas which he spread and has still effectiveness, at the sources which are written at his time and also the ones written at later centuries. A type of the sources which we learn about his life is menakıbnâmes. These types of sources were written more likely a tale history and they have a legendary phrase of explaining. It is known that there is a Menakıbname about Sheikh Bedreddin which was written down by his grandson “Hafız Halil” and transmitted to daily Turkish. The Menakıbname which we held at our work is a type of pamphlet about his adventure of mystic life at Egypt. It is founded out only two copy of this pamphlet is available at our manuscript libraries. One of these copies at National Library and other one is in the Library of Süleymaniye. Primarily Menakıbnames are going to be shortly mentioned as the sources of our cultural history in our essay. Afterwards the two manuscripts about Sheikh Bedreddin which we mentioned will be criticized in order to find out which one is the original one. Later on, the different and similar points will be held by comparing his legendary life which was mentioned pamphlets and realistic historical life.
