Abstract
Time and space continuums are the defining categories for the genre of the text, so exposure of the means embodying them can contribute to the further development of text typology. The article describes stylistic means and devices whose functions, among other things, create artistic space and time continuum in English fairytales for children. Among all evocative means it is reiteration that can create a time layer by determining the duration of action. However, the means of hyperbole, comparison, personification etc. are used to create the space characteristics. It is noted that the choice of abovementioned means and the functions they fulfil in the text creates a time and space continuum inherent in a fairytale only.
