Abstract
This review if written of E.F. Zhupikova’s “E.P. Durnovo (Efron). History and Myths: Monograph” issued by the “Prometey” publishing house in an edition limited to 500 copies, which makes it a rare bibliographical publication. The monograph under review is unique in that it is arguably the first time when the biography of Elizaveta Petrovna Durnovo (Efron) who was a gifted and vivid personality is considered not only in the light of the memoirs of her deposited in the archive fonds (primarily, the memoirs left by her daughters, Elizaveta and Anna Efron), but also on the basis of archival documents (birth certificates, protocols of interrogation, reports, bill of indictment etc.). The latter allows the monograph’s author to clarify and rectify a whole range of mistakes ingrained in the literature concerning E.P. Durnovo (Efron).
