Abstract
The article provides characteristic and overview of the existing methods and techniques of English language teaching. The notions of “methodology”, “method” and “teaching techniques” are clarified. The classical, natural, intensive and communicative methodologies are considered along with the didactic and hermeneutic techniques, effective implementation of which is possible only if they are properly introduced into the corresponding methodology
