Abstract
In the given article the theoretical approaches to bilingualism and the role of bilingualism in translation are considered. The various characteristics of the concept "bilingualism", the mechanisms of language switching in oral unilateral and bilateral consecutive interpreting, as well as issues of translation correspondences on the lexical, grammatical and phraseological levels are considered.
