Abstract
The article deals with the problem of liberal reforms in Russia, in particular, describes the features of the economic crisis over the past twenty-five years. The author expresses the view of the essence, the nature and effectiveness of the social transformations. The conclusion of the limitations and possibilities of the chosen lib- eral model of economic development is justified. The data from the sociological monitoring "How are you, Rus- sia?" on the attitudes of citizens to the internal politics of the Russian state and the current priorities in the for- eign policy are adduced. Finally, the recommendations to the attention of state authorities are formulated. Тhe potential of civil society in Russia is examined
