Abstract
The article discusses the importance and value of meaning orientations as a condition for prevention of drug addiction among young people. We present the point of view of various authors who agree that the value and sense of orientation of the individual, not only reflect the actual state of society, but also determine the vec- tor of its development as a whole. The authors note that the increase of the effectiveness of all measures taken to combat drug abuse is necessary to study the problem from different angles. One of these parties, according to the authors, the study may be of value-semantic orientations of modern youth. The theoretical basis are the views of Viktor Frankl, who analyzed the problem of the loss and the search for meaning in life, characteristic of Western society. The authors suggest that drug prevention should be built taking into account the current value and the meaning orientations of youth
