ANCIENT DERBENT IN DESCRIPTIONS

In this article there are the descriptions of Derbent as one of the most ancient cities of the world by numerous travelers, merchants, political leaders, writers, military, scientists, etc. The sources with the rich descriptive material of old part of the city and its historical district promote the deeper investigating and analyses of events in the history, ethnography, culture and life of the people, long time living on the territory of the Ancient Derbent. As a result of the received data scientists conduct new scientific researches, including the archaeological investigations, supervision, underwater researches opening the past veils, for identification, studying and saving of monuments of architecture and archeology. Therefore, along with the historical messages, this article includes the material received by the archeological dig on the territory of old part of the city Derbent.
