Abstract
In this article different approaches to the definition of concept “family” are considered. Analyzing materials of lexicographic sources, authors made the conclusion that in each of the humanities the family is investigated from the special point of view and is filled with the specific contents. An attempt to reveal the likeness and distinctions in definition of family as social unit is made. During research authors come to conclusion that all humanities interact and mutually add each other.
