Abstract
The article provides an analysis of the category of traditions in ethnic musical culture. The notions of musical folklore traditions comprising the attributes of the personal lifestyle are defined. The genres of musical folklore have formed through centuries depending on the variety of social functions of folk music related in their turn to economic and geographical as well as social and psychological peculiarities of the ethnos formation.
