Abstract
The article reveals the influence of architectural landmarks of Armenia on Armenian people’s cultural development. Special mention is made of the Mount Ararat which is held sacred by Armenians despite the events that took place in the 20s of the XIX century. Detailed consideration is given to the following architectural heritage sites of Armenia: sculptural composition called “We Are Our Mountains”, The Tatev Monastery complex, Gandzasar Monastery, Amberd Fortress, Geghardavank Monastery complex and Zvartnots Cathedral. The fact that many historical architectural landmarks including but not limited to the mentioned ones have been damaged by the earthquakes is underlined. The conclusion is made that reconditioning and preservation of these historical landmarks is a humanitarian task of great importance for the present and future generations
