Abstract
The aim of this study is solution approach development of thin-wall structure stability problems (plates, coverings etc.), which is based on the change of the given system for the equivalent one through the comparison of their specific potential energy. The notion of equivalence is introduced in the context of system stability, generalized variation principle is formed and theorem on the equality of external force energy or equivalent systems potential energy (theorem). Using the theorem the problems of bending flatness stability for shallow beams are solved, the satisfying results are obtained. The use of classic approach for these problems solution requires cumbersome arithmetic.
