Abstract
After cotton planting the soil nearly always gets compacted. A prolonged compaction of soil inhibits plant development, causes heavy loss of moisture, disturbs the supply of nutrients and hinders subsequent operations of cultivating and watering that exacerbate conditions of cotton plant development even more and lead to reduction in yields. This determinates the primary purpose of inter-row cultivation which is tillage of topsoil.
