Abstract
The article attempts to outline the significance of the fateful for the northern region scientific conference held in March 1941 in Moscow with the participation of leading scientists. It is noted that it has laid the foundation for economic development and determined the implementation of the plans on the scale of the all-Union division of labor. This allowed Yakutia occupy an important place in the production of not only diamonds, but also gold, tin, coal, mica, oil and other resources of the Earth’s interior. The conclusion is that by doing so, in the east of the country a powerful base of mineral resources was created, which contributed to the development of regional infrastructure, transport, communications, population growth and improvement its living standards.
