Abstract
The article deals with the significance of social and perceptional competence for a teacher in a higher educational establishment. The author considers the peculiarities of competence-based approach, analyses the nations of social perception and social and perceptional competence, distinguishes the substantial elements of this phenomenon, which are necessary for a teacher in a higher educational establishment.
