Abstract
Understanding the world of the Kazakh musical culture, we grasp the values created by them in certain historical eras, that found their way to establish themselves as symbols of the Kazakh culture. The etymological investigations based on Turkic equivalents, history of words and connections which became opaque or obliterate in the language, allowed revealing the change in semantics and field of application and the intertwinement of various mean- ings within the terms caused by their origin and field of application. The descriptive basis of traditional musical terms promoted the formation of the system of knowledge and ideas in the national world perception, the universal and idoethnic elements in the Kazakh music scene of the world.
