Abstract
The article discusses the features of the Muslim family law ? sharia, described the ceremony to sign the marriage. The national traditions of the Egyptian wedding are described. Many features are typical for Islam in general. The author lists the conditions required for marriage. It gave details of the ceremony the wedding feast. Special attention is paid to the issues of polygamy and divorce on the initiative of women. The new phenomenon in modern Egypt ? conditional or temporary marriage ? is mentioned. The author concludes that the transformation of marriage and family relations in modern Egypt
