Abstract

The purposes of this study were to 1) investigate the body of knowledge of local wisdom on the forest and water resource conservation of the Thai Yo Ethnic Group in Nakhon Phanom, 2) develop the activities of the local wisdom transfer in conserving the forest and water resources of the Thai Yo Ethnic Group in NakhonPhanom, and 3) explore and compare knowledge, attitudes and participation in conserving the forest and water resources of the Thai Yo Ethnic Group in NakhonPhanom.: The samples used in the event transfer of Local Wisdom on the Forest and Water Resource Conservation of the Thai Yo Ethnic Group in NakhonPhanom. The sample were of 80 who voluntarily participated in activity. The research tools were the manual interview, observation, manual transfer of Local Wisdom on the Forest and Water Resource Conservation of the Thai Yo Ethnic Group in NakhonPhanom, knowledge test, attitudes test and participating questionnaire manuals. The statistical analysis of data were percentage, mean, standard deviation and One?Way ANOVA. The results showed that the knowledge and wisdom of conserving forests and water resources. Supplemented documents of the activities on the utilization and conservation of the forest and water resources among the Thai Yo Ethnic Group in NakhonPhanom were acquired from the synthesis of the knowledge in the first phase. The contents of the documents comprised: Activity of Paying Homage to the Ancestral Holy Ghost/Pu Ta, Activity of Community Forest, Activity of Family Building, Activity of Sending Guests/Song Khaek, Activity of Loikrathong, Activity of Lai Ruea Fai as well as Activity of Fishing for Sustenance. The effects of identifying knowledge, attitudes and participation of the Thai Yo Ethnic Group before and after the activities were transferred revealed that there were no significant differences among male and female participants in terms of knowledge and attitudes. The knowledge concerning local wisdom on the conservation of the forest and water resources classified by age showed no differences. There were no significant differences on the attitudes toward the conservation of the forest and water resources classified by age.
