The Effect of Using Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) Towards Analytical Reading Ability and Learning Perseverance of Mathayom Suksa II Students at Nasuang Wittaya School in Ubon Ratchathani Province

Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to compare analytical reading ability of Mathayom Suksa II Students at Nasuang Wittaya School in Ubon Ratchathani province before and after learning by using Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC), and 2) to compare learning perseverance of Mathayom Suksa II Students at Nasuang Wittaya School in Ubon Ratchathani province before and after learning by using Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC). The sample consisted of 38 Mathayom Suksa II students at Nasuang Wittaya School in Ubon Ratchathani province in the second semester, 2013 Academic Year, obtained by cluster sampling. The employed research instruments were learning management plans using Cooperative Intergrated Reading and Composition (CIRC), analytical reading test, and learning perseverance assessment. Statistics employed for data analysis were percentage, the mean, standard deviation and t-test. The findings of the research were that 1) the post-learning analytical reading abilities of Matthayom Suksa II students at Nasuang Wittaya School in Ubon Ratchathani who learned by using Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) were significantly higher than their pre-learning counterparts at the .05 level, and 2) learning perseverance of Matthayom Suksa II students at Nasuang Wittaya School who learned by using Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) were significantly higher than their pre-learning counterparts at the .05 level.
