Comparisons of Functional Competency of High School Teachers in Maha Sarakham Province

Abstract
This researchaimed tostudy and comparethefunctionalcompetencyofhighschool teachers with different sexes and school sizes in Maha sarakham province. The sample insisted of 148 teachers in a content group of social study, religion and culture, obtained using the stratified random sampling technique. The data were collected using a rating-scale questionnaire.Thecollected data wereanalyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, independent t-test and F-test (One-way ANOVA). The major findings of this research revealed that the teachers as a whole and as classified accordingtosex and school sizehad their functional competencies as a wholeand in each subscale at a more level. The male and female teachers did not statistically showed different functional competencies as a whole and in 5 subscales. But the male teachers indicated more functional competency in the leadership subscale than did the female teachers (p=.002). In addition, the teachers working at extra-large-sized and large-sized schools showed more functional competencies as a whole and in each subscale than did the teachers working at the medium-sized schools (p?.002).
