S.N. BULGAKOV’S PHILOSOPHY OF HOUSEHOLD AND THE ECONOMY MODERNIZATION

According to the approach of the Russian philosopher and theologian S.N. Bulgakov, the social human activity including the economic one is pleasing to God and blessed, consequently it is a necessary sphere of a human life. Bulgakov’s philosophy of household gives the orthodox understanding of the economic activity because the religion in his concept is not just a factor that affects the economic life but an integral perspective of global vision, a fundamental coordinate system for evaluating the reality. Bulgakov considers a human labour to be the key feature of the household. The labour changes not only the environment, but the human being himself. The role of Christianity in social and economic progress is crucial as it changed the attitude of a human being to the labour, made the labour a sign of virtue and dignity, put an end to the chauvinism and sneering attitude to the labour that was prevailing in the ancient times
