Abstract
The performance of first-year students at the University Department of Professional Studies, University of Split, Zagreb division, was observed during the academic year 2011/2012. The paper provides the results related to the extent of gender-dependent academic success of students on Finance and Accounting study programme in six core courses of the first semester. Student's t-test showed overall results that female students performed better. Although in all six courses female students achieved better results, the difference was statistically significant only in two courses.
