Abstract

The present article constitutes the first attempt in both post-Soviet and Greek Hellenic Studies to establish the main culturally marked features of the texts of Modern Greek powers of attorney in comparison to the respective Russian texts. The conducted research has shown that Greek powers of attorney are still being written according to the patterns of the XIX century. Unlike Russian texts, Greek powers of attorney are excessively descriptive and overloaded with subordinate clauses and homogeneous parts of the sentence. They are also rich in morphological variations and archaisms that are due to a lengthy period of diglossia.
