Abstract
ABSTRACT The linear discriminant analysis, for short LDA, is a commonly used method of feature extraction, which has an important application in pattern recognition field. This paper analyzes some methods of feature extraction based on LDA and its variants, and also gives a variant of PCA method. Then, on the basis of human gait energy image, some methods of feature extraction including DLDA, RLDA, PCA + LDA and v-PCA + RLDA and gait recognition are studied. In experiments, gait databases from Chinese Academy of Sciences and minimum distance classifier are selected to verify the performance of feature extraction on gait recognition.
