Abstract
Present study titled “Exploring grandparents and adolescents relationships in urban and rural settings w" as undertaken to analyze the relationships between grandparents and their adolescent grandchildren on the basis of their rural and urban residential settings. Study was conducted on 495 students of four Intermediate Colleges of Muzaffarnager city of Uttar Pradesh studying in IX to XII classes and having at least one grandparent alive. Adolescents were asked to provide information for every live paternal and maternal grandparent separately. GGRQ (Grandparents Grandchildren Relationship Questionnaire) Questionnaire on different aspects of relationship with grandparents was developed by the investigator. Mean, Standard Deviation, and Z-test were used to analyze data. Results indicated that rural and urban adolescents have more or less same quality of relationship with their paternal and maternal grandparents. Result shows that in general boys and girls have better relationship with their paternal grandfather followed by grandmother. They have more or less same type of relationship with both of maternal grandparents. Communitysetting (urban and rural) have no effect on relationship of adolescents with their grandparents.
