FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION IN THE HIGHER EDUCATIONAL ESTABLISHMENTS OF THE USA

The article reveals the essence and content of the notion “periodization”, the main approaches of defining the stages of formation and development of physical education. The stages of formation and development of physical education in USA are presented and analyzed. It is proved in article that results of the development may be useful for native pedagogical theory. Insufficient attention is paid to the issue of periodization of formation of physical education in higher educational establishments. There is no special study dedicated to it, so investigated issue is requires special attention and research work. The state of investigated issue in pedagogical theory of the USA, the main stages of development of physical education are defined and characterized. Thus, the basic stages of physical education include subsequent stages: the background of appearance of physical education; the origin of bases of physical education; competing concepts of physical education; the blossoming of physical education; the new concept of physical education; the development of physical education in the period of great depression; dissemination of physical education (PE); the growing of influence of PE and Title IX; prospects of development of new trends of PE; modern period of PE. The investigation of the problem of development of physical education in the USA will serve as a basis for further development of the question. The analysis of the historical development of the American experience can serve as a model for the development of modern concepts of physical education in Ukrainian pedagogical theory. In the US, numerous attempts were made for periodization of the history of physical education, namely the establishing of the certain chronologically-successive stages in the development of educational views. Sport History helps to understand the development of sport today socio-historical development of sport and gives information about sports, and where appeared special sports practice.
